Mission:

CAUSE Tutoring is a non-profit organization that is operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. We focus on increasing access to education for the vulnerable and at-risk community in the Ottawa area by providing free on-site tutoring services at our community partners.

Volunteer Position Description:

The Director of Communications is responsible for:

  • Supervising and ensuring the good operation of the communication department to achieve the objectives of the department in terms of marketing, social media and event planning
  • Increasing our visibility by participating in the creation of content, media communications and the development of communication and marketing tools
  • Supervising the writing of internal (monthly newsletter…) and external communications as well as the translation of internal documentation
  • Ensuring that the website is up-to-date, accurate and reflects the organization’s mission, objectives, and values….
  • Participating in Board of Directors meetings (every month) and volunteers meetings (every 2 weeks).

Qualifications and expectations of this role include:

  • Strong organizational and intrapersonal skills are a must as well as experience in communications, marketing, and social media campaigns
  • Experience in logistics and event advertising would be appreciated
  • Management or leadership experience is considered an asset
  • Spend a minimum of 5 to 8 hours per week, the scheduling requirements of this position may fluctuate depending on upcoming and ongoing events
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Interacting with the public/in a group setting
