Mission: CAUSE Tutoring is a non-profit organization that is operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. We focus on increasing access to education for the vulnerable and at-risk community in the Ottawa area by providing free on-site tutoring services at our community partners.

Volunteer Position Description:

The Director of Operations is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the account managers at each community partner, and taking on these duties in the absence of an account manager
  • Delivering orientation sessions and training for new tutors and account managers
  • Delivering any additional or follow-up training to tutors and account managers on an as-needed basis
  • Overseeing the collection of program evaluation metrics
  • Remaining available for questions from account managers regarding any aspect of their role, handling extenuating circumstances, and ensuring they are best equipped to fulfil their role successfully
  • Assisting in the development of relations with prospective community partners
  • Attending board meetings (every month) and volunteers meeting (every 2 weeks)

Qualifications and expectations of this role include:

  • Strong organizational and intrapersonal skills are a must
  • Management or leadership experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in operations, volunteer coordination, and training
  • Dedication of a minimum of 5-8 hours per week; note that the hourly demands of this position fluctuates with on- and off-season peaks and may require additional time during higher influxes of tutors
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset

  • Interacting with the public/in a group setting
