#ACGlobalProjects Recap: Kenya
Posted on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019
Jambo! This May, our #ACGlobalProjects team set off for Nairobi, Kenya and ventured forth in the heart of the Maasai Mara. For 10 unforgettable days, our team worked together with ME to WE to help build a school, as well as take part in cultural and educational activities to learn about social issues in Kenya.
Our volunteers helped dig the foundations for a future school, where students will gain academic and life skills to transform their community. To get a glimpse of the impact of education, the team also stopped at the WE Kisaruni Secondary School and met its dedicated students (who start their schooling at 4:30am and end at 10pm)!
From carrying heavy jerry cans filled with water, to beading with the Maasai Mamas, to trying their hand at the bow and arrow, our team got to meet the community and explore traditions old and new. They also met some of Kenya’s incredible wildlife on a safari adventure led by a Maasai Warrior!
“For as long as I can remember, going to Kenya was always on the top of my bucket list. This trip was nothing short of perfect and I am so grateful to have gotten this opportunity. Not only did I get to learn so much about the amazing Maasai culture, but I also got an entirely new appreciation for our lives here in Canada. This was such an eye opener and it has truly changed who I am. I am so thankful for ME to We and the amazing group of individuals I got to travel with. I am so fortunate to have made new friends near and far.” – Bryanna
