Volunteer Position Description:

Do you like hanging out at your local hardware store, enjoy active, physical work or are looking for a way to complete your student volunteer hours?

Habitat Greater Ottawa operates non-profit home improvement retail stores across Ottawa called Habitat ReStores, which sell donated, new and gently-used home furnishings, appliances and other renovation materials at a fraction of the original price.

When you help out at Habitat ReStore, you help your community. ReStore proceeds cover a portion of Habitat Greater Ottawa’s operating costs, so your donations can go directly toward building affordable homes.

Volunteer at one of our three local ReStores today!
• ReStore Train Yards, 768 Belfast Road
• ReStore off Merivale, 7 Enterprise Avenue
• ReStore Stittsville, 3 Iber Road

We have many volunteer roles to offer at our ReStores such as:
• Assisting our driver with picking up donations across the city;
• Helping in the warehouse with receiving;
• Sorting;
• Recycling;
• Prepping;
• Repairing donations;
• Helping in the retail space assisting with greeting customers;
• Cashier support;
• Merchandising;
• Light and heavy upkeep

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Interacting with the public/in a group setting
  • Training is given and required to be completed before starting this position
  • Attend a mandatory orientation session
  • Regular commitment of 4 hours, either every week or every second week
  • Provide your own CSA approved steel toe boots
