Confidence on Campus
Posted on Sunday, January 20th, 2019
With the first month of Winter term under your belt, you’re starting to hit your stride on campus – you’ve picked your go-to study spot, filled your agenda with upcoming events, and know the warmest routes to all your classes. As you settle into a routine, it’s a perfect opportunity to explore the services that can help make the most out of the semester, and bring you confidence on campus.
Centre for Accessible Learning
The Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) is committed to ensuring all students have equal access at Algonquin College by providing academic accommodations and educational support services for students who have permanent and/or temporary visible and invisible disabilities, such as:
- Low vision or hardness of hearing
- Acquired brain injury
- Mental health diagnosis
You must voluntarily self-identify to access CAL’s free and confidential services. For more information, visit the websites for Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke.
Employment Support Centre
It’s never too early to start thinking about your career – that is why we’re at Algonquin College after all! The Employment Support Centre at Ottawa, Perth, and Pembroke is here to provide job search assistance to students (and graduates). They’ve got everything from an exclusive online job board – HireAC – to one-on-one appointments for resume help, mock interviews, and LinkedIn profile advice. Stop by the Employment Support Centre at your campus today!
AC Hub Volunteer Centre
Was volunteering one of your New Year’s resolutions? The AC Hub provides volunteer opportunities both on- and off-campus. It’s a great way to meet people outside of your classes, learn about Ottawa, and experience new things. Stay up to date on upcoming Community Projects and other volunteer events at the Ottawa campus, and get involved at the Pembroke and Perth campuses through the Student Leadership Program and Volunteer Database.
And make sure to keep an eye on our social media for updates on our Global Projects teams who are going on volunteer trips to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic during Study Break Week – maybe this time next year, that could be you!
Happy February!
