Mission: NIED is the voice for Canadian families, caregivers and individuals who are suffering with Eating Disorders and other co-morbid and concurrent diagnoses. We help caregivers, patients and practitioners fill gaps in care through education and by highlighting better practices in prevention, health promotion and treatment. NIED is working with stakeholders across the country to address the gaps in current services, delays in treatment, lack of pan-Canadian data, and insufficient training for clinicians and healthcare professionals.
Volunteer Position Description: The National Initiative for Eating Disorders (NIED) is looking for 3 volunteers to help us with our social media reach. We’re looking for an Online Communications Specialist (Mailchimp) along with Online Communications Specialists for Facebook and another for Twitter.
The National Initiative for Eating Disorders (NIED) is seeking an Online Communications Specialist to join their growing communications team. This is a volunteer (unpaid) position requiring a commitment of approx. 2 hours/week. The positions can be worked from home (remote). The incumbents will act as the co-leads of NIED’s official Facebook/Twitter accounts, posting content 3-5 times per week. The Online Communications Specialist (Mailchimp) position involves the creation of a monthly online newsletter and other ad-hoc email communications sent out on a random/infrequent basis.
Students and recent graduates are welcome! This is an opportunity to refine your skills, gain valuable experience in the realm of online communications, and network with professionals in the non-profit space. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to participate in NIED’s communications team meetings to help develop the organization’s online communications strategy.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Able to commit approx 2 hours/week to the roles for the Facebook and Twitter positions
- Able to commit approx 5 hours/month to the role for the Mailchimp position
- Able to commit to a minimum of 12 months Social media savvy (Facebook) or (Twitter) or (Mailchimp)
- Passion for Eating Disorders advocacy
- Precise attention to detail and strong written communication skills are required
- Prior experience working with Mailchimp is preferred, but training is available for those with internet savvy and a willingness to learn
