Mission: Library and Archives Canada preserves and makes accessible the documentary heritage of Canada. It also serves as the continuing memory of the Government of Canada and its institutions. This heritage includes publications, archival records, sound and audio-visual materials, photographs, artworks, and electronic documents.

Volunteer Position Description: Are you between the ages of 19 and 25? Are you interested in Canadian culture and history? Do you want to help make Library and Archives Canada a better place for youth? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for a diverse group of 20 students and young professionals to join our Youth Advisory Council (a National Capital Region pilot project).

As a member of the Youth Advisory Council, you will:
• learn more about Library and Archives Canada, its collections, programs and services
• actively participate in discussions and brainstorming exercises with senior management and employees
• develop your communication, analytical and leadership skills
• provide advice that will help us ensure that Canada’s heritage and culture is available to future generations

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Between the ages of 19 and 25
  • Living in the National Capital Region and able to attend monthly meetings between September 2018 and June 2019
  • Able to attend up to three or four hours of meetings a month, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
