Volunteer Position Description:
ReStore Stittsville, 3 Iber Road is looking for volunteers to accompany our drivers as they pick up and transport donated items across the city. The driver’s assistant is an important ambassador for Habitat GO, demonstrating enthusiasm and providing positive, professional and courteous customer service to our donors. If you pride yourself on being punctual, dependable, and hard-working, this role may be right for you!
We are looking for volunteers with availability during the week, Monday-Sunday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, minimum of 1 full day every other week and a commitment of 6 months. This volunteer role is unique in that it requires a mandatory full daytime commitment.
As the Driver’s Assistant, you will be assisting the driver in safely loading and unloading donated building materials, appliances and furniture with the ability to lift approximately 70 lbs. You will also assist in navigation and act as a second pair of eyes when our vehicles must maneuver into difficult spaces. No previous experience is required.
Due to the nature of the work, all ReStore truck volunteers must be over the age of 18 years and must have their own CSA approved steel toe boots.
Volunteer Requirements: Heavy Lifting (more than 10lbs at a time)
