Mission: The mission of The Good Companions is to offer programs and services, in partnership with volunteers, to promote, enhance and support the well-being, independence and zest for living of both lder adults and adults with physical disabilities.
Volunteer Position Description: Volunteer participate as a team to support, lead and implement the Day Program.
Duties
• Socialize with members;
• Serve lunch to members;
• Assist with walking/exercise program;
• Assist with program planning and activities;
• Assist with distribution and clean up of afternoon dessert;
• Assist with fundraising activities, including Bazaar (optional);
• Telephone calls to clients for friendly chats during program breaks;
• Attends inter-denominational chapel service (optional);
• Attend meetings and training as scheduled; and
• Tracks and records personal volunteer hours.
Requirements
• Warm, friendly, patient, courteous manner;
• Positive people oriented personality;
• Punctual and reliable;
• Understands the needs, interests and concerns of older adults and adults with physical disabilities;
• Able to work independently and as part of a team;
• Self-directed, social and proactive;
• Maintains confidentiality;
• Able and willing to ask for support when needed; and
• Can abide by the limits and boundaries of the program.
Commitment
• Weekly shift (Monday, Wednesday or Thursday 9:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)
• There is some limited flexibility in start and end times; and
• Occasional special events (optional).
