Mission statement: The Glebe Centre is a charitable not for profit long term care home that provides long term care, specialized care and community services to clients in the Ottawa community. The Glebe Centre is dedicated to developing and delivering services that support the highest quality of life for the clients we serve by living our values every day.
The Glebe Centre is a 254 bed long term care home and a senior’s centre. We provide programs and initiatives to meet the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of older adults in our community. We advocate for a strong collective voice from clients, residents, families, staff, volunteers and community partners. We offer a wide range of activities and programming which are resident focused.
Volunteer description: Snoezelen volunteers are needed for our Snoezelen room. Snoezelen is a multi sensory environment and is used to stimulate primary senses with music, lighting effects and aromatherapy. Snoezelen can either stimulate or relax the individual and can give us a clearer understanding of the resident’s needs using vision, hearing, tactile, smell and taste. This is a one to one interaction and training is provided. We have a Snoezelen cart as well so volunteers can work independently with residents. All paperwork will be handed out during the interview including a letter for a free police check. The volunteers will learn new skills in role playing, redirecting and understanding non verbal clues.

▪ Police record check
