Paying It Forward with a Purpose: Ashley’s Goal for her Future.

Ashley Wheeler, a top graduate from Algonquin College’s Victimology program, is driven by a commitment to serve. She knew early on that she wanted a career advocating for victim rights and supporting individuals in their most vulnerable moments.

Reflecting on her journey, Ashley says, “I want a career where I can help people every day. Victims’ rights and adequate funding for victim services are critically underrepresented. My goal is to be a voice for those who feel unheard.”

Ashley’s gratitude runs deep. She’s already planning to donate part of her award to future Victimology students at Algonquin College, aiming to help others who share her passion for justice and advocacy. “Even those who help others need support,” Ashley notes. “We’re all human, and no one is made of steel. This award has reminded me that we can all lift each other up.”

Ashley’s message to those considering creating awards or bursaries is simple: “Do it!” She emphasizes that awards honor achievements and empower recipients to give back, creating a lasting ripple effect.

For Ashley, receiving and giving are interconnected: “Accomplishments deserve recognition, and even small gestures can make a huge difference.”
