| Basic Silver Jewellery MMA0080 |
The basic silver jewellery course is designed to get the novice started in jewelry making. Two projects are undertaken to teach the basic skills of sawing, soldering and finishing pieces. The student is then encouraged to work on several jewellery pieces of his/her own design, one with a cabochon gem setting.

Since 1981 he has been a gemologist with British and American qualifications and is currently cutting precious gems and working in various fine arts media including silver jewellery. He is well known in the Ottawa area as a jewellery instructor but also works in watercolours, oils, and pastel. |

| Silver Surface Treatments MMA0328 |
Mixing metals with silver and applying chemical patinas can create lovely surface patterns. Techniques include mokume gane, the marriage of metals, reticulation, and the milling of textures. An ideal course for an intermediate student who would like to explore new techniques for working with metals or for the new student who would like to make jewellery with surfaces more exotic than a simple high polish.
