Why Be a Student Leader: The reason I decided to be a student leader was to help out and welcome new students, because the reality is, giving an inch really goes a mile. With that said, Welcome to Algonquin!
Interests/Hobbies: You’re most likely to find me at the Observatory or in the gym so don't be stranger and introduce yourself.
First Year Advice: As a former high school freshman and a survivor of first year of the Child and Youth Worker program, can confidently share three tips that bailed me out several times.
  1. Use Algonquin resources, they're there for a reason.
  2. Sleep is sacred, so if possible, avoid cramming and just spent that nightly 30 minutes studying.
  3. Time management and/or to-do lists is/are the ultimate trump card. It doesn't matter what game you’re playing.

Why Be a Student Leader: I decided to be a student leader because I think having that someone to show you the ropes when you are in a new setting is very important. I know it helped me during my first year, and I want to give that opportunity to new first year students. It can be a nerve wrecking experience.
Interests/Hobbies:Sports, Law enforcement, Music
First Year Advice: : Keep your heads high, don't get discouraged and use the school resources. Furthermore, if time allows you…get involved in sports. I wish I did.
Name:Alex Hosselet
Program:Recent grad of Small and Medium Enterprise Management moving into Business Marketing.
Why Be a Student Leader: I'm a student leader because I like working with people and giving back to Algonquin.
Interests/Hobbies:In my spare time, I like to take pictures of paintings of sad clowns and imagine what they'd look like if the clowns were happy instead.
First Year Advice: If you're a new student: get involved! The more you put in here, the more you get out!
Name:Thivya Rajah
Program:Small and Medium Enterprise Management
Why Be a Student Leader: It is my aspiration to share my success with others. As I complete my final year at Algonquin I had succeeded in reaching my goals. As a student leader, I seek to assist others in reaching their goals as I did. It will also provide me with a unique opportunity to prove my leadership skills.
Interests/Hobbies:Biking, listen to music, surfing the internet and reading books
First Year Advice: My advice to first year students would be to manage their time efficiently. As students enter college they have more freedom than what they had before, so they tend to be carried away from studies. I would recommend them to spend time for studying as much as they would spend to socialize.
Name: Jesseca Lawrence
Program: Police Foundations
Why Be a Student Leader: I found Algonquin College a little bit overwhelming when I first started, so I figured helping out new students in the same boat is usually very much appreciated, and I love meeting new people!

First Year Advice: Look to right and look to your left; one of you is not going to make it. You should take advantage of the freedom to decide whether or not to show up to class. First year can be easy, but showing up to class, following exact formats of assignment, and communicating with your Professor will help you excel in each of the courses you take. Your biggest regret of failing a course will be that you will have to pay for it again!
