R3 Showcase May 17 | Project Schedule & Implementation Committee Updates + Live Demo of Time Periods in Thesis SM
May 17, 2022 |10:00-10:45
The R3 Showcase Event, which took place on May 17, 2022, welcomed more than 200 participants to its virtual gathering. During this Showcase, participants learned about the timeline update, two key Implementation Committee decisions, and the steps involved in Business Processes. Participants also saw enhanced features of the new Student Information System, Thesis SM, and had the opportunity to asks questions at the end.
R3 Project Executive Sponsor and Vice President, Student Services, Laura Stanbra welcomed attendees and took a moment to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of GeneSIS, Algonquin College’s current Student Information System.
Implementation Committee Co-chairs Bryan Eburne and Jason Taker then shared two key decisions made by the Implementation Committee. These decisions included:
- changing the Annual Curriculum Rollover function. This is to ensure that only programs that require changes will need to go through the annual curriculum review and activation process.
- adopting the formatting style that the new Student Information System, Thesis SM, uses for program and curriculum version.
R3 Senior Project Manager Sam Wong then provided the updated Project schedule, which is currently in its Discovery/Familiarize Phase.
Talal Javed, Project Manager, SIS Solution, went over the steps involved in creating or reviewing Algonquin College Business Processes. These steps aim to improve both student success and satisfaction and employee satisfaction and productivity. He then listed several examples of Business Processes to provide clarity on the subject and reiterate the value and importance of Business Processes.
Samantha Harris, R3 Project Business Systems Analyst, introduced new terms related to the new Student Information System: Time Period and its associated periods including Admission Period, Billing Period and Academic Period. The continued introduction and explanation of new terminology is to help employees better understand the new Student Information System and become more confident during its launch. She finished with a demo of Thesis SM to show how periods are created and utilized.
