Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
OSAP offers student loans to help pay for education expenses. OSAP loans may not cover all student expenses, but they may offset a good portion.
Child-care bursaries and bursaries for students with disabilities are also available as part of the OSAP program. It is important that you apply for OSAP as early as possible - don't wait for acceptance to the College.
For more information or to apply, visit the OSAP Web site at http://osap.gov.on.ca
Bursaries
Bursaries are cash gifts awarded to financially needy students who meet defined criteria. There are more than 140 available bursaries. Visit the Financial Aid Office Web site www.algonquincollege.com/financialaid for a list of these bursaries and their criteria, and then call the College or the sponsoring organization for details and application deadlines.
Scholarships
Algonquin scholarships, available to enrolled students, are often overlooked as a source of financing. Many are granted based on academic achievement, while others recognize athletic ability, community involvement, leadership qualities and other attributes. Scholarships are also available from outside sources. Contact your program administrator or visit www.scholarshipscanada.com or www.studentawards.com to investigate further.
