MPT Co-op Apprentice Diploma Program

Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley values workplace experiences for our students. We have several programs at our Pembroke Campus that offer students the opportunity to work within their field to gain invaluable experience while also earning a pay cheque.  Students who complete a co-op placement improve their chances of securing employment upon graduation.

Here are some key features of our co-op programs:

  • To be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a high academic standing in their first term of studies.  Co-op is optional with the exception of the Motive Power Technician Co-op Apprenticeship Diploma which has a mandatory co-op experience for its students.

  • Students must apply for a co-op experience and while the college makes every effort to help the student secure a placement, it is not guaranteed. Co-op is a partnership between the student, the college and the employer and all parties must do their part to make it a successful program

  • Co-op placements are usually for a minimum of 14 weeks
