largest wilderness lands in Canada. As a student, you will take trips here to study wildlife, ecology, silviculture, dendrology, and wilderness recreation. Past student groups helped design and construct the sites and trails around Achray, a major camping area in the park. Our students have also been involved with wolf studies in the park. ^Top

As proof of the tremendous diversity of forest resources available to the Forestry Technician Program in Renfrew and Pontiac Counties, the Ontario Provincial Scaling Course is hosted annually each spring by Algonquin College's Pembroke Campus. This is the only log scaling course offered in Ontario that is sanctioned by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The local parks in the City of Pembroke are used by the students for dendrology, arboriculture, and forest health activities. The class of 2000 built the outdoor meeting place (chapel) at the 'waterfront park', helped repair the waterfront boardwalk, and assisted with the building of the 3-D logging mural in the downtown area. Our students also help assess and monitor the wetlands and forested areas in the township and make field trips to parks maintained by the Ministry of Natural Resources. ^Top
