Our Forest Technician graduates enter the workforce as professionals with a number of technical skills and knowledge that are valuable to employers in the forestry sectors.
There are many rewarding and interesting forestry careers in areas such as: controlling forest fires, tree marking, harvesting, interpreting nature, renewing the forest, hydro, using GPS and GIS, managing ecosystems, tree plantations, wildlife, woodlots, insects and diseases, park interpreters, conservation officers, log scaling, forest inventory cruising, building roads and trails, compliance monitoring, and conducting assessments and audits.
Graduates are employed with arborists, bio-energy and bio-fuel firms, conservation authorities, contracting and consulting firms, government forestry departments, ecologists, environmental groups, fisheries, hydro, logging companies, mills, municipalities, nurseries, parks, researchers, wildlife agencies, or as entrepreneurs who own their own business. |
