The Campus

The outdoors is our biggest lab. Algonquin Park, Petawawa (National) Research Forest, Renfrew County Forests, Shaw 'Old Growth' Woods are just some of the sites where you will do much of your learning.

The Pembroke Campus is located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley which is a centre for a large variety of forestry mills and operations that can be studied by our students.

The Ottawa Valley has a rich timber history. From the First Nations to the early explorers, fur traders and lumber barons, there are many stories to be told.

The Pembroke Campus provides students with a unique and special learning environment.   The largest of Algonquin College's satellite campuses, Forestry Technician students learn in an atmosphere where staff and students are easily recognized and first names are preferred. With approximately 800 full-time students, the Pembroke Campus is a great place to learn the skills to enter the natural resources industry.

Pembroke is surrounded by natural beauty, scenic rivers and lakes, rugged terrain and picturesque forests.  Deer, moose, black bears and timber wolves are among the many animals that inhabit the region. Many species of birds, from waterfowl to warblers and owls, are also present.

Forestry Technician students participate in first-hand learning winter and summer through their many field trips and visits to parks and forestry operations.

In their leisure time, students will also be able to take advantage of the area to enjoy many recreational activities.  Whether it's birdwatching, fishing, golfing, hiking, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, climbing, snowshoeing, whitewater canoeing, kayaking, or rafting---it's all here at Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley.
