Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley is located in Pembroke, Ontario, near the shores of the Ottawa River. The campus is near the city’s downtown and offers students a place to study where class sizes are small and where affordable housing is available within walking distance of the campus.

We have approximately 800 students who study year round in our modern computer labs or classroom labs dedicated to Nursing, Forestry, Early Childhood Education, Motive Power Technician and Office Administration - Executive programs.

Our Students' Association regularly provides many special services to students including photocopying services, resume copying, and medical coverage.  In addition, the S.A. offers recreational and social activities throughout the year and has recently renovated the student lounge "The Landing".  This versatile area is used for many events and activities including live musical acts, movie nights, watching sports on the big screen TV and live entertainment by acts such as hypnotist Tony Lee, or the Trailer Park Boys.  The Students' Association also funds the Loggersports team, an unusual varsity sport whose members compete against other college and university teams in events reminiscent of the logging days.

The Radiation Safety program is unique to our campus, as are our Outdoor Adventure Naturalist, Outdoor Adventure, and Forestry Technician programs.   The Pembroke Campus programs also include studies in in health sciences, business and technology, human and community studies, and apprenticeship programs.

The nuclear industry has a long history in the Ottawa Valley. Atomic Energy of Canada, a large crown corporation, has its main research laboratory in Chalk River, about a 30-minute drive from Algonquin’s  Pembroke Campus.

AECL’s staff of about 3,000 employees also includes many Algonquin College graduates from our Office Administration–Executive, Business, and Electronics Engineering Technician programs who, over the years, have established rewarding careers with the crown corporation.
