bedNursing students at Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley receive exceptional clinical experiences during their time at Algonquin.

The Ottawa Valley is fortunate to have some of the top health care facilities in the province, including a newly expanded Pembroke Regional Hospital, a brand new Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke, and other modern long term care buildings such as Marianhill in Pembroke and Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew.

The Pembroke Regional Hospital has undergone a major facelift in the past several years. With more than $46 million dollars injected into the site, it now houses a state of the art intensive care unit, emergency department, rehabiliation unit (inpatient and outpatient), diagnostic imaging department including CT scan, nuclear medicine, medical unit, dialysis unit, and expanded birthing area as part of its obstetrics unit including five birthing suites.

Other placement opportunities are available throughout the Ottawa Valley through the college's partnerships with the Deep River Hospital, St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry's Bay, Renfrew Victoria Hospital, Arnprior and District Hospital, the North Renfrew Long Term Care facility and other smaller long term care operations.   One of the major advantages of studying nursing in a smaller community is the wonderful learning opportunities for students through real life nursing experiences.
