Faculty members! Are you new to the College? Carrying out your own research? Are you working on the bibliography for your sabbatical report? Are you publishing? Or freshening up your assignments?
The Instruction staff at the Algonquin College libraries offer support for Faculty assignment preparation.
We can help you build reading lists within Blackboard using copyright cleared articles available using e-resources available at Algonquin College.
We can help you avoid researcher’s frustration and assignment agony.
If you are developing assignments that will involve research we are the ones you want to speak with. We know our resources well and have a good idea of how students conduct research and use (or don’t) information tools.
We can test drive your assignment! Kick the wheels and shine up that document before it goes to press.
Do you have a large group researching the same topic? We can suggest placing key items on reserve so everyone gets a fair chance.
Is your assignment introducing new research methodology? Perhaps you wish the students to find “scholarly journals”. We can suggest an in-classroom session to introduce the student to the tools and methods required before they begin their research.
Are you giving your students a “scavenger” or “treasure” hunt? We can help target the questions to tools that are discipline specific.
Updating last year’s assignment? We can tell you what has changed, what is new.
Is your assignment a challenge? Maybe it will need more time in which to be accomplished?
Want to give your students books or citations to find for an annotated bibliography? We can double check those sources and make sure they are complete.
