Graduate Certificate - Literacy Practioner
The Literacy Practitioner Training program is designed for individuals already working or intending to work in the field of adult literacy. It would be of particular interest to:

paid and unpaid tutors and instructors, as well as certified teachers currently working in community, school board, and college literacy and upgrading programs
individuals interested in working in the adult literacy field.

The program consists of seven courses specifically written and designed for independent study. Each course has its own learning module. Resource materials to supplement optional activities and assignments are also available. Specially designed modules introduce students to course concepts through a series of interactive activities. Students self-select activities according to their own needs and interests in the subject area. Regular contact between student, facilitator and fellow students will be made in weekly scheduled Learning Circles. The Learning Circles are facilitated by a faculty member. They provide participants with the opportunity to discuss issues and to share each other's expertise. Additional contact can be made via the telephone, e-mail and listserve.
