Wireless Autoconfiguration Utility
  • The recommended method of connection is through the AlgSecureWLAN network. Older laptops may need to use the AlgKeyWLAN network (2+ years).

The program below will automatically configure your laptop to be able to access the Algonquin College wireless network. It will not make any changes to your home network settings (if your laptop uses any).

Instructions
  • Click the orange link above to begin downloading the Wireless Autoconfiguration Utility. You will have the option of saving or running it.

If you wish to immediately configure your laptop to join the Algonquin College wireless network, press Run (you do not have to be at the College to perform this step). If you wish to run the program later, press Save, and save it to your desktop.

When the program runs, you will be walked through the configuration process. Press any key to set up your wireless connection, or press X in the top right corner of the black window to exit the utility.

If you are using Windows XP, this utility will set up AlgKeyWLAN on your computer and exit. At this point you are finished and ready to use the wireless network at the College.

If you are using Windows Vista, you will be asked which network you wish to connect to. The options will be listed on your screen. Press the letter "S" to connect to AlgSecureWLAN or "K" for AlgKeyWLAN and press enter.

Your connection on Windows Vista should now be set up! When you turn on your laptop inside the College, you will be asked to enter your NT username and password (the same information to log into Webmail, Blackboard and lab computers).

Enter the required information (domain can be left blank) and press OK. Your laptop should now connect to the wireless network.
