- 1. Close down any open windows, then Right Click on My Network Places and Left Click on Properties.

- 2. Right Click on the Wireless Network Adapter and Left click on Properties.

- 3. When the Wireless Network Connections Properties window opens, Left Click on the Wireless Networks tab.

- 4. Next, Left Click on the ADD button to create a new Connection profile.

- 5. At the top of the next window input the SSID (case sensitive).
SSID: AlgSecureWLAN

5a. Select WPA as the Network Authentication

5b. Select TKIP as the Data Encryption.
- 6. The next step is to configure the Authentication properties. Left Click on the Authentication tab.

- 7. Make sure the 'Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network' box is checked off, and choose the EAP type. (Protected EAP [PEAP])

- 8. De-Select the'Authenticate as computer when computer information is available' box.

- 9. Next, click on Properties and proceed with de-selecting the Validate Server certificate box.

- 10. Under 'Select Authentication Method' at the bottom of the screen, choose Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).

- 11. Next, Left Click on the Configure Button to configure the Authentication Method.

- 12. On the next window ensure the 'Automatically use my Windows logon name and password' box is NOT selected.

Students : Remove the checkmark beside Automatically use my Windows Logon name and Password (and Domain if any).
- Staff: Add a checkmark for all laptops where you login with your NT Username and Password.
- 13. To complete the creation of the profile, Left click the OK button for all windows that are visible as they appear in sequence.
- 14. A Balloon tip will appear above the System Tray, bottom right hand corner. This is to Authenticate to the 'AlgSecureWLAN' Wireless Network. It will look similar to this:

- 15. Click on the Balloon and provide the following in the "Enter Credentials" window: Your Algonquin College NT Username and Password (PIN) and your Domain - The Algonquin College Campus of your Program of Study:

- 16. Hit OK, and you are finished.
