Admission Requirements


All international students are required to meet the academic requirements for entry into their academic studies. This includes official academic transcripts with proof of high school graduation and credits as required; portfolios; as well as essays or work experience, as requested by the admissions office.

  • Proof of English-language skills equivalent to Ontario Grade 12 are required as follows:
  • Diploma Programs: IELTS 6, TOEFL 213 CBT, TOEFL 80 IBT
  • Degrees and Post Graduate Studies: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 237 CBT, TOEFL 90 IBT
  • Students who have not taken a Test of English may apply for Conditional Admission to the Algonquin Language Institue.

Students will be automatically registered two weeks prior to classes upon receipt of full tuition fee payment. A timetable will be available for you to pick up at Orientation or at the Registrar's Office. Students entering full-time Degree/Post-Diploma/Diploma/Certificate programs should obtain their registration package from the International Admissions Office, Room C150- Woodroffe Campus.Back to top

Application Dates


February 1 is the recommended deadline for programs with a September start date. October 1 is the recommended deadline for programs with a January start date

Note: Applications will be accepted and processed after these dates as long as seats remain open in the program.

Fees and Policy


Tuition fees
vary from program to program. We estimate that you will require an annual budget of $11,000 CAD for tuition fees and $10,000 CAD for living expenses for each year of study.

Please check tuition fees and estimated expenses with the IEC. All tuition fees include full-coverage health insurance. Text books and school supplies are extra.

Refund Policy

All students who request a refund must do so in writing. International students who withdraw within the first 10 business days (two study weeks) of the beginning of the term are entitled to a full refund, minus an administrative fee.

If you withdraw, cease to attend classes, or become part-time, you should be aware that the College will inform Citizenship and Immigration Canada of your change in status and you will no longer have health insurance coverage from the College.Back to top

Payment Options

All fees should be made payable to Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology in Canadian funds.

Payments may be made by: Master Card, VISA, American Express, Money Order, Certified Cheque or by Electronic Bank or Wire Transfer.

A copy of the receipt from the bank should be faxed to the International Education Centre at FAX: (613) 727-7665. Please be sure to include your student number and names, as well as the detail of what the payment is for (example: tuition, residence, etc.)

Important Notes:

  1. A service charge of $10 CAD will be applied from the Bank of Montreal upon receipt of your bank transfer. Please take this into consideration and increase your payment by $10 CAD.
  2. Bank or Wire Transfers can take up to 10 business days to be received and processed to your student account.

How to Apply
  • Complete the Online International Student Application Form or download the PDF version of the application form and send it to the IEC indicating the start date and length of study required, along with your payment of $150 CAD (non-refundable). Include all of the required documents.
  • Your admission package will arrive within 2-4 weeks after we receive your application.
  • Pay your fees on time by following the instructions in your letter.
  • Take your Letter of Admission to the nearest Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission and apply for your Study Permit. This can take one to three months to process.
  • If you are applying to live in the Student Residences, please submit an application online and be sure to notify our office of your decision to live on campus.

  • If you require an Airport Pick-up service, please contact our office two weeks before your arrival date.
