The Haunting Season 2008 (Saunders Farm)

halloween_2008

The International Education Centre at Algonquin College hosted 60 students for The Haunting Season 2008 at Saunders Farm, a famous local attraction in the Ottawa area. The event, which ran on the evening of October 30th, included the Haunted Hayride, the Barn of Terror, and the  Field of Screams.

“The students loved it.” said Academic Student Advisor Michelle Cameron. “The attractions at Saunders Farm are meant to scare their guests, and they certainly do a good job of that.”

Because the event was so successful this year, plans are already under way to do this same event next Halloween.

For more information on Saunders Farm, including video of the feature attractions, please visit their website at http://www.saundersfarm.com/pages/attractions.htm

International Students Enjoy Night at the Ballpark!

baseball_night

The International Education Centre hosted the 1st annual Ottawa Rapidz Baseball Night at the Ottawa Baseball Stadium on August 20th, 2008.  Twenty eight International students boarded a bus at the main entrance of Algonquin College which took them to the Ottawa Baseball Stadium for a game between the Nashua Pride and our own Ottawa Rapidz.

The weather was perfect for the 7:05pm start time. The baseball game, a first for most of the students, was a fun learning experience. Not only did they enjoy the game, but they got to see the Rapidz Dancers and meet Rookie, the mascot!
