COMMS - Course Section Information

Effective Fall 2009, faculty are to ensure that a Course Section Information (CSI) document is created for each section being taught. They are also to ensure that the CSI is available to students, and uploaded to COMMS. Faculty members without a role in COMMS will be provided with direction by their Chair regarding how the CSI is to be uploaded to COMMS.

Course Section Information (CSI)

As outlined in Academic Directive E33, "[c]ourse outlines and course section information are essential components of all courses offered at Algonquin College. Together, they document the curriculum at the course level." More specifically,   "[c]ourse section information details how the course outline is implemented with a specific group of learners within the context of a particular section." The contents of CSI documents can be divided into three components:

1. Course information
2. Learning Schedule, and
3. Other important information.

CSI Template

The template found below contains the minimum requirements for CSI, and offers suggestions both for the content and the format of the document. Using the template for developing specific CSI's is both welcomed and encouraged.

The following CSI documents have been created for courses in the Zoo Management Program:

• ZOO6100 - Property Management (Adobe Acrobat Format)
• ZOO7000 - Grant and Proposal Writing (Adobe Acrobat Format) - This is a hybrid course.
• ZOO8100 - Introduction to Security Operations and Planning (Adobe Acrobat Format)
