General Manager

Mike Dash was formerly an Assistant Manager of a large downtown hotel before coming to the College 30 years ago. Since this time he has been the General Manager of the Food & Beverage Operations department at the Woodroffe Campus.

Mike is a member of the Canadian College and University Food Service Association and Buying Group and the Ontario Restaurant and Food Service Association.

Catherine Bell
Catherine Bell
Administrative Assistant

After a few years in the private sector, Catherine joined Algonquin College in 1997 working in the Registrar's Office. In 2003, Catherine joined the Food & Beverage team as the Administrative Assistant. Catherine is a graduate of the Ontario Management Development Program at Algonquin College.

Brent Brownlee
Brent Brownlee
Manager (Systems), Staff Development and Vending

Brent Brownlee joined the Food & Beverage Operations management team in 2001. Previous to working at Algonquin College, he worked at the Holiday Inn Select in Kanata. He has a degree in Sociology from the University of Ottawa. In 2004, Brent completed the Hospitality Manager's Development Course at the University of Guelph. Gord joined the College in 1975, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from a well known hotel in the Ottawa area where he was the Food & Beverage Controller.

Carmine Mariani
Carmine Mariani
Executive Chef

Carmine has extensive international experience. After immigrating to Canada in 1965, he worked in many major hotels throughout the Ottawa region. He started at Algonquin College in 1988, working part-time in Food & Beverage Operations. He also taught a variety of food related courses in the School of Hospitality and Tourism. He is a member of the Canadian Federation of Chef de Cuisine, the Canadian Culinary Federation and the Italian Chef's Federation.

Helena joined the College after graduating from the Hotel and Restaurant Management program in 2001. Prior to this, Helena worked 10 years in the restaurant industry overseas.

Riccardo Panarella has spent 15 years in the food service industry most notably as a Store Manager for McDonalds Restaurants of Canada. Riccardo has been with the College since 2003.

Assistant Manager, Portable Feast

Mary is a graduate of the University of Guelph Bachelor of Commerce Program with a major in Hotel and Food Administration. She has 12 years of customer service experience with 8 of those years in the restaurant industry. Her previous position was that of Service Manager.
