How Faculty and Staff Can Use LinkedIn
Expand your network with others in the education field. Find and connect with other teachers and education professionals from your own school and other schools.
Get recommendations and endorsements. Have your colleagues recommend your work and endorse you for your skills to build credibility.
Participate in Alumni groups. Connect with past students to find out what they are up to and find former students who can be advocates for the college or who can participate with current students.
Reach out to experts. Find industry experts to use as guest speakers or advisory board members.
Share best practices. Use LinkedIn Groups to share best practices with other education professionals.
How Students Can Use LinkedIn
Learn about different career options. Explore LinkedIn Groups and Company Pages to see what kind of opportunities exist in a student’s chosen field.
Research companies. Check out Company Pages regularly to see what kinds of positions they are hiring, who works there and what sorts of products and services they offer.
Complete a LinkedIn Profile. An updated LinkedIn profile will help students connect to opportunities and will act as their online resume. Students can also display their portfolio and projects on their LinkedIn profile. 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to search for prospects.
Stay in touch. Keep in touch with teachers, students while still in school and after graduation.
