INTERNATIONAL Students

Algonquin College is proud of the fact that hundreds of international students choose to enroll at the college for their post-secondary training each year. Many of these full-time international students begin their studies through the School of Part-time Studies Language Institute to brush up on their language skills in preparation of their post secondary education and to take advantage of the services and resources available to language students.

As well, international students who have chosen to remain home are now looking at and registering in our School's Distance Education courses and programs. Distance Education gives international students an opportunity to receive a canadian education through either online learning or correspondence.

English Language Training

The Language Institute offers several ways for students to learn English as a Second Language through:

  • full-time ESL instruction and TOEFL preparation
  • the Multicultural Buddy Network: a club that will help students make friends from around the world and integrate into canadian culture. The Multicultural Buddy Network also provides students with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and organized events.
  • our location in Ottawa: 14,000 full-time, Canadian and international students attend the main campus.
  • facilities and services: 24-hour-access computer labs, multimedia labs, the resource centre, the fitness centre and gymnasium, cafeterias, and on-campus student clubs.

French as a Second Language and foreign language courses are also available through the Language Institute.
