When should I apply to the program?

It is best to apply before February 1st in order to ensure a spot in the program.  However, we still accept applications after that date and fill remaining seats on a first come, first served basis. 

What else should I know about applying to the program?

  • You need to have at least 70% in Grade 12 English
  • You will be asked to submit a 500-word written piece to complete your application

How do I complete and submit the written piece?

Submit your written piece electronically to media@algonquincollege.com.  The following information should be included in your subject line: Professional Writing Written Piece, your name, and Algonquin College Student Number if you have one.

What are you looking for in the written piece?

Your piece will be evaluated not only for your ability to write, but to use the language well. (And yes, spelling and grammar count!) In addition, the written piece helps us to get to know a bit about you, so we can adjust the program and courses to suit the needs of the incoming class, including you.

You are about to enter an exciting but fiercely competitive field, and all your professors will work very hard to help you achieve your goals. Your written piece helps us help you.
