Robyn Heaton - Program Coordinator
Robyn Heaton has extensive experience on both the client and media side of advertising. Beginning her career in advertising design in 1979, she later switched to a marketing role and subsequently held a number of positions managing the advertising and promotions in retail, government and print media environments.
In 1990, she joined Algonquin College as a full-time advertising professor where she has taught a variety of courses including; concept development, copywriting and advertising. She also supervises the advertising function on the student-run newspaper, The Algonquin Times. In 1996, she took over the coordination of the program and was instrumental in modifying the program from two to three years.
Robyn coordinates the international activities for four programs in the School of Media and Design, where Algonquin has partnerships in India.
In addition to a diploma in Advertising, Robyn holds a diploma in Adult Education from St. Clair College, and a diploma in Fashion Design from Richard Robinson Academy of Fashion Design.
Jayne Van Dusen

Jayne Van Dusen has over sixteen years experience in the advertising industry. She is a graduate of Algonquin College's Advertising Program. Jayne has spent most of her career working in the client services departments of local advertising agencies. As an Account Executive, and eventually Director of Client Services, Jayne has worked on strategic advertising projects for a range of clients - from retail and national brands to government and high tech. Advertising depends on teamwork, and Jayne has successfully led teams that included copywriters, designers and art directors, production artists, and media planners. She has also managed the work of outside advertising suppliers such as market researchers, broadcast production houses, talent agencies, photographers and illustrators. Jayne teaches principal courses in the Advertising Program that allow first and second year students to develop the skills required for planning, creating and implementing marketing communications activities.
Sally Enright
Sally Enright brings 16 years of experience to the Advertising faculty having held a variety of advertising and marketing communications positions in Canada and the U.K. She is a graduate of Algonquin’s Advertising program and has a degree in Mass Communications from Carleton University. Sally’s work experience covers several consumer market sectors and a wide range of disciplines.
Before joining Algonquin as a full-time professor in 2002, Sally had performed a variety of roles in the advertising field ranging from advertising agency account executive to freelance copywriter to in-house advertising manager. She has been involved in the development and management of national advertising programs, including television, radio, direct mail and print campaigns, as well as national and local sponsorship programs.
Greg Wheeler
Greg Wheeler is a Registered Graphic Designer and advertising art director, with 15 years experience in the design and advertising industries. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Alberta College of Art and Design, where he majored in Visual Communications.
Greg worked first as a freelance designer and illustrator then moved on to several publishing, design and advertising firms in various design and art direction roles, leading to his favourite period as Associate Creative Director at Mediaplus Advertising in Ottawa. At Mediaplus, he worked on teams helping to build brands in the travel and tourism, high-tech, retail, cultural and not-for-profit sectors.
He joined the Advertising faculty at Algonquin College in 2006, and concentrates mainly on courses related to the creative side of the Advertising world, including design and conceptual development classes.
Catherine LaBerge-Kenny
Cath LaBerge-Kenney is thrilled to work with the Advertising program. She has been teaching at the college for 20 years in a variety of programs in the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design and created the Theatre Arts program. Cath has a degree in Arts from the University of Ottawa and a degree in Education from Queen’s University. In addition to teaching at the college, Cath has had the privilege of facilitating Eastern Region Professional Development programs for faculty including Focus on Learning and Great Teaching. Cath specializes in courses involving human behaviour, creativity and the promotion of empowerment.
