Food for Thought is a wonderful culinary team-building adventure! In addition to improving employee team work skills, it provides the ideal opportunity for the food savvy and not-so-savvy to learn some great new dishes! Since it’s inception
numerous organizations, government sectors and even our Police and Public Safety Institute have learned how to create magnificent culinary dishes while improving their team work skills.
Typically, Food for Thought works like this;
groups contact Dan Coates to discuss registration logistics, then based on the requests of the client, Chef Steve Price creates a custom menu with corresponding recipes. Upon arrival at the School of Hospitality and Tourism, the group receives an overview of the days activities and are then divided into teams and assigned specific culinary tasks. One team prepares appetizers, another focuses on the main course while the last team creates deserts. The teams work together on streamlining activities, assigning and executing tasks. The challenges that arise provide ample opportunity to utilize team building skills. The same skills that are needed in the office are needed in the kitchen-communication, organization and teamwork. .
Mix in a little friendly competition, and you have a recipe for a memorable event that will have far-reaching positive effects on the workplace dynamics. The reward comes at lunch when you sit down, relax and enjoy the three course meal that you and your colleagues produced while enjoying a glass of wine that compliments your meal. Above all, the day is fun and often very entertaining! Each team member receives a bound recipe book, Chefs hat and a cloth monogrammed apron to take home. We capture the cooking experience with our digital camera and share the photos on a CD.
